Sphalerite consists largely of zinc sulfide in crystalline form but almost always contains variable iron. The mineral crystallizes in the cubic crystal system. In the crystal structure, zinc and sulfur atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated. The structure is closely related to the structure of diamond. The hexagonal analog is known as the wurtzite structure.

Quartz is the world's most common crystal making up one 10th of the Earth's crust. Quartz is believed to amplify the energy of other crystals when they are placed nearby and help reveal the truth. It is also a master healing stone and used by healers and shamans to clear and shift energy and to bring about calm.
