Emerald
Emerald is a gemstone variety of beryl. Its green colour comes from traces of chronium or occasionally vanadium. Flawless crystals are rare in nature, but since 1937 the synthetic manufacture of flawless emerald has been possible. A very popular gemstone for jewellery, the first known mine for emerald was in Ancient Egypt in 330BC. Cleopatra was said to love the gem.
A stone to inspire and to enhance patience, Emerald is a life-affirming presence, bringing harmony, unity and bliss into one's life. It is a stone of friendship and brings balance into relationships. It steadies emotions and opens up the heart chakra.
