Desert Rose

Desert roses are formed in arid sandy conditions, of either gypsum, barite or selenite. They have many other names, including rock rose, sand rose, gypsum rose, barite rose or selenite rose. They can either form in a single rose, or as a giant cluster. The colour depends on the sand of the environment that the rose forms in, it encrusts the mineral and lends its colour. It is a very connecting stone, good for connective tissue and bones. If used in mediation it transforms negative feelings into positive ones, turning hate into love and releasing anyone caught in a self-contained negative matrix. It is closely associated with Mother Earth, as such it is a good healer for disturbed earth-energy, and it links in closely with the protection of Mother Earth.
