Quickview: Connellite is one of the rare specimens of mineral. It is a hydrous copper chloro-sulphate. It usually forms as very delicate crystals of a fine blue colour, and can be associated with copper minerals of secondary origins, like malachite and cuprite.

It was found first in Cornwall, England, in 1802, but it was first studied by Professor Arthur Connell in 1847, and it was after Connell that this mineral gets its name.

The type locality is Wheal Providence at Carbis Bay in Cornwall. Outside Cornwall it has been found in over 200 locations worldwide including Namaqualand in South Africa and at Bisbee, Arizona, USA.

This piece of Connellite was mined in Wheal Edward, St Justin in Penwith, Cornwall, United Kingdom
