These blocks containing multiple shoals of the Jurassic ammonite Dactylioceras are famous from the Schlaifhausen area near Nuremburg in Germany. They have not been cleaned out of the rock but rather have been weathered out by natural acidic groundwater over unimaginable time.

This piece is exceptional with many good specimens. None of the ammonites have been stuck on (which is common practice to enhance thepresentation of the pieces). These specimens are difficult to find now in the fields around Schlaifhausen, however even in the heyday of finds a piece this good would have been exceptional.

Location: Nuremberg, Germany

Age: Jurassic 183 million years old.
